The plain carpet spreader is made with thicker 16 gauge plated steel without notches. It holds the carpet on the tack strip as the stretch is released for better setting of the pins into the carpets backing. With no notches, the tool makes a better tucking tool. Push it down the wall with pressure on the handle, and it tucks the carpet without catching yarns. The thicker blade does not bend under load. The black plastic handle is ergonomically contoured.
